The 10th House is that part of our outer life that manifests very clearly. In general, the Tenth House controls the moments of practical decisions, external choice; but its foil is always the Fourth House, or life ethics and fundamental attitudes which have a significant impact on your choice. More abstractly, the 10th House symbolizes the hierarchy you are in; most astrologers talk about the service hierarchy, but here the relationship of practical spiritual teaching is also actualized as the teacher is interested in the specific circumstances of the students’ life and interferes in their life choices.

The synastric planets of the Tenth House orient you towards a practical and serious perception of a partner, often in the role of a boss who gives you a tricky assignment, or a subordinate to whom you must assign one but whose abilities you doubt. However, this division of roles is not necessary. Instead, the presence of a 10th House synastry partner may make you face a specific and practical choice. It’ll likely have a spiritual meaning, but you won’t know it until later.

The atmosphere of the Tenth House is rather dry (it’s governed by Capricorn) and is not particularly intimate. Here, you may have a heightened sense of duty and numerous issues related to failures in social and professional advancement, as well as unresolved spiritual problems rooted in the inconsistency of your practical behavior with your core life beliefs. Even though this may have nothing to do with the partner, consciously or subconsciously it gets projected onto them, as if they were the direct source of your misfortunes and frustrations.
